Our Principles
D.air is a volunteer-driven collective. We're not a startup. We don't have investors demanding growth metrics. We have no incentive to harvest your data or sell it to anyone.
We collect only what we need to run this platform. We store it securely. We delete it when you ask. That's it.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign up (via Google or GitHub OAuth), we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo from the provider. We store this to create and manage your account.
Profile Information
You can optionally add: a bio, your location, website, contribution areas (skills), and social links. This is entirely voluntary and helps other contributors find and connect with you.
Project Submissions
When you submit a project, we collect the project details you provide: title, description, repository URL, documentation links, tags, team information, and onboarding materials.
Join Requests
When you request to join a project, we store your application: requested role, motivation, optional links, and any answers to custom questions set by maintainers.
Communications
Maintainer notes on join requests, project reports, and any messages exchanged through the platform are stored to enable collaboration and moderation.
Technical Data
Like most websites, we receive standard technical information when you visit: IP address, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, and pages visited. This helps us debug issues and understand usage patterns (in aggregate, not individually).
How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display your profile to other contributors (based on your settings)
- Process project submissions and join requests
- Enable maintainers to review and respond to applications
- Moderate content and enforce community guidelines
- Debug technical issues and improve the platform
- Send essential account notifications (password resets, security alerts)
- Respond to your support requests
We don't use your data for advertising. We don't build profiles for targeted marketing. We don't sell access to your attention.
Public Information
Certain information on D.air is public by design:
- Public projects — Title, description, repository links, maintainers, and tags are visible to anyone
- Your profile — Display name, avatar, bio, and contribution areas are visible to signed-in users (you control what you share)
- Project memberships — Your role on public projects may be visible to other contributors
Unlisted projects are only visible via direct link. Hidden projects are only visible to their maintainers.
Data Retention & Deletion
Active Accounts
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Project submissions, join requests, and other content you create remain associated with your account.
Account Deletion
You can request account deletion at any time by contacting us at privacy@dair.dev. We will delete your account and personal data within 30 days.
Some information may be retained in backups for a limited period, or where required by law. Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained.
Project Content
If you delete your account, projects you submitted may remain (with authorship anonymized) if they have other active maintainers. If you're the sole maintainer, the project will be archived.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS
- Passwords are never stored (we use OAuth only)
- Database access is restricted and monitored
- We use Row Level Security to prevent unauthorized data access
- Admin actions are logged
No system is perfectly secure. We can't guarantee absolute security, but we commit to promptly addressing any vulnerabilities and notifying affected users of any breach.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — Update inaccurate information via your profile settings
- Deletion — Request deletion of your account and data
- Portability — Request your data in a portable format
- Opt-out — Unsubscribe from non-essential emails
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@dair.dev.
Children's Privacy
D.air is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Transfers
D.air is operated from the United States. If you access the platform from outside the US, your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
By using D.air, you consent to this transfer. We ensure our service providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
